I’m sure most of you already know this, but now that I have time to write, I am going to tell you. Colette is done with her four year degree. Since I have known her, she has been in school or trying to get the money to go back. That is no longer the case. She has finished. To make things all the more sweet, she has two degrees. I am extremely proud of her and I am excited that we will finally have more free time together. I am also excited to see where this new road will take us. (this would be the perfect spot to insert my tagline, up for the journey).
Marriage First
November 30, 200911:40 am2 CommentsHaving a baby makes life more difficult. I know I am not supposed to say that since I have one, but it is true. Simple tasks now require timing, a willing baby, and worst of all effort. (I’m sure there are more things I could list, but this was all I could think of). Even enjoyable tasks are put aside because it simply isn’t possible. Playing music is one of those things. I have my mandolin left out, but the second I look at it, Bella wants to play. Extremely cute and awesome that she can strum, annoying when I want to play.
A few months ago Colette and I started making sure we went on one date a month. Before Bella, Colette and I never had a problem with this. Even when our schedules were completely filled, we still made time for us. I guess it just comes or at least it should come naturally. If you aren’t willing to make time to be with your spouse or significant other, there’s something wrong. But now that we have Bella, it is that much harder to get alone time. She’s always there. I get why people tell you to take care of you marriage first. It is so easy to get sucked into everything always being about the kid/s.
Now before you yell at me. I love Bella as much as possible, she just makes things a little more difficult.
A Few Important Dates
November 19, 20092:30 pm4 CommentsThe month of November has some important dates. November 4th is Bella Ruth’s birthday. We were thinking of having a small party, but it is her first birthday party so we opted for lots of food and lots of friends. I cooked for two days and made some awesome food, if I do say myself. Enough friends and family showed up to fill the house with silence as people watched the football game on T.V. All in all it was a short party, but tons of fun.
November 18th is my wedding anniversary. This year is number three. I know I said this last year, but that number seems so small. I feel like we have already been married for a lifetime. Our lives are no longer separate, we are the same person and I couldn’t imagine life without Colette.
Time
September 4, 200911:17 am3 CommentsThe next few months are going to be insanely crazy. By the start of the new year Colette will be a college graduate with two degrees. We are very excited about this, we are just not excited about that work that must be done in order to get there. Colette will be taking 28 units this semester. Without a job and a family I think this can be done and can be done quite easily, (Colette and I are both fast workers) but with a job and family there are going to be some hard sacrifices that will need to be made by both Colette and me. We are fully aware this will be a difficult few months, but we both feel the end result will be worth the hard work. Of course that is easy for me to say since I am not the one going to school and doing the school work. All of this may mean less blogging on my part or it may mean a lot more blogging as this may be my one connection to the outside world. Only time will tell. If it means less, I will see you all in January.
Redirect
August 13, 200911:15 amLeave a CommentNeedless to say I have been a little bit lazy on my posting the past week. I didn’t even make the effort to post a simple video. Sorry about that, but I don’t have better news. I am not going to post anything great right now. I am going to redirect you all over to my wife’s blog. She is awesome and wrote a new post this morning about parenting.
Go say hi and tell her how you feel.
These Are Busy Days
July 3, 20092:25 pmLeave a CommentA few days ago my good buddy James Pierce flew up to visit. He had been living in Costa Rica so it is great to see him again. Since his arrival we have been fairly busy. Here are the highlights:
- Went to Bella’s first A’s game with James, Joel, Jen, and Colette. They were playing the Tigers, who might just be worse than the A’s so we actually won the game. That was pretty exciting. Even more exciting: dollar hot dogs. That means I ate four. Not all at once, but that is still a lot of hot dogs. Bella had a great time and so did everyone else.
- My so called friends tried to convince me to use facebook. I don’t want to. It will be one more thing to keep up with. I would much rather blog. This debate created some great conversation and laughs. (Especially at the people sitting behind us, as they acted like junior high children when talking about facebook).
- Ate lunch at the Pita Pit. I know what you are thinking, “This is supposed to be highlights.” Well this is my blog and Pita Pit IS a highlight.
- Played a show with The Art of Whimsy that ended up being 3 instead of 2 hours. I didn’t play the whole time, but it was a little longer than expected. Jordan Emmans played on our second set and that is always a good time. I also had the opportunity to play one of Jordan’s songs with him while Nathan changed a guitar string. It was good times. A bunch of old friends showed up which just makes for even better times. To make the night even better Bella learned how to clap. I think she is as excited as we are.
So that brings us up to today. Looking at it, it doesn’t seem like that much stuff, but it has been busy. I promise. The future holds game nights, breakfast with friends, and a barbecue of fresh salmon.
As a side note: there were too many things to link to on this post.
Today…
June 18, 20095:17 pm7 Commentshas just been one of those days.
- Bella, for whatever reason has been very cranky all day; constantly whining and not listening. She has already received several time outs until her attitude changed.
- My iPhone fell out of my pocket and broke the screen. It still works, but is really annoying. The warranty is not void and will cost me $200 to replace. I am thinking of trying to fix it myself. I repaired Colette’s iPod so we shall see.
- Colette received a free replacement iPhone since hers was acting up. I am a little jealous.
- Colette and I purchased a new iMac today. Something we are in need of. Our laptop is over 5 years old and I can tell it is getting old. We upgraded to 1 terabyte of memory so it had to be a special order. I can’t wait to get it. With this purchase came a free printer and $229 toward an iPod. I took that money and purchased the iPod classic.
- I am now tired and ready for the day to be over.
The Lion King
June 6, 200910:43 amLeave a CommentStreet Fighter dvdrip Tonight is going to be a great night. Colette and I are getting dolled up and we are going on a date to see The Lion King musical. We received tickets from my mom for christmas and I know at least I have been looking forward to this date ever since. I happen to be a huge fan of going to the theatre, whether it is small community theatre or major production, there is just something about the entire experience that I love. I also happen to be a huge fan of The Lion King, both the movie and the musical. I was fortunate enough to go see The Lion King musical when I was in college and I have wanted to see it again ever since. So tonight promises to be a great night, until them we have a room to get organized and clean, oh goody!
Bella Ruth

Tremors 3: Back to Perfection release
Today, was Bella’s first doctor’s appointment in a while so Colette and I were excited to see the progress that she has made. We were also excited for Bella to see her new doctor, a person we knew we would like. (Her last doctor was a little odd). So for those of you who are wondering here are Bella’s “stats.” She is in the 75% for both her weight (18.5 lbs) and height (26 in.). She may be a little bigger than some, but at least she is proportional. While we were there she also received some immunizations, which are not something to look forward to. She received one oral immunization and three shots. Thanks to the help of some preventative Tylenol, Bella did great. She may have thought Colette was evil as she pinned her to the table and confused at why I just watched, but all was immediately better once mom picked her up.
Alright, I think I have bored you all enough. See you tomorrow.
