Sorry for the lack of blogging of late. It isn’t that I have had nothing to say, I just haven’t had the desire to say it. I would much rather play with my little Bella Ruth while she is awake and by the time she is asleep I have little energy left. Maybe this will be the great turn around to more writing. I hope so, I do miss you dearly.
Studying Revelation you get a glimpse of God that can be quit scary. There are crazy scenes of God’s wrath being poured out onto the earth resulting in a lot of death, a lot of blood, and people who side against God are “tormented for ever and ever.” If you were to only look at this picture of God it is very clear how one could get a wrong idea of who God is. Don’t make the mistake of assuming this is the entirety of God’s attributes. I also feel the reverse of this needs to be true as well. We see stories of God’s love and assume he is only loving. We need to study all of scripture and develop a view of God that encompasses everything we know about who he is.
Needless to say I have been a little bit lazy on my posting the past week. I didn’t even make the effort to post a simple video. Sorry about that, but I don’t have better news. I am not going to post anything great right now. I am going to redirect you all over to my wife’s blog. She is awesome and wrote a new post this morning about parenting.

This morning I was laying in bed looking at my closet and how much I wanted all of my hangers to be evenly spaced and then it hit me, I have OCD I’m just too lazy to do anything about it. To be honest I think about the hanger thing way to often. I have even thought about cutting little grooves into the closet rod so they would have a spot to slide onto. And of course this desire for neatness doesn’t stop there. I want drawers nicely organized, my dressers drawers are nice and organized (everything has its place). I want my music, CDs and records, DVDs, to be in alphabetical order, books should be arranged by type and then size. I want all of these things, I am just too lazy to do anything about it. This is probably for the better.
Before worship this Sunday the congregation was challenged with a different way of thinking. We are usually taught that God wants us to worship him. And that is very much true and goes hand in hand with what I’m about to say.
God allows us to worship him.
In the Garden of Eden, he had every right to say never mind, this didn’t work out like I wanted. Good bye world. He didn’t have to create and go through with his elaborate plan of salvation, but thankfully he did. Thankfully he took it upon himself to allow us a path and a way to come to him and worship at his feet.
The other day while hanging out with some good friends, I was told about a cool website. Now before I put the link on here, I want to give you all far warning. There is plenty of “bad language.” For instance, if the “F-word” offends you, don’t go to this site. That being said the website is cracked.com and has some really funny stuff, some educational yet interesting stuff, and some completely stupid stuff. So far, this is my favorite article.

Here is the beard progress for week 3. It looks pretty dramatic because I cut off all of my hair. My beard is now a lot longer than the hair on my head. The good news is that I no longer look homeless. The bad news is that people either think I look really religious (i.e. Amish) or a like neo-nazi.

I know most of you are going to scoff and say, “I don’t eat fast food, it isn’t good for you.” But in reality, I am not sure I know anybody that doesn’t make it into some fast food restaurant at least every once in a while. Just be honest with yourself. So I’m wondering what your favorite fast food restaurant is. When you forced with the decision: go hungry or get something quick and cheap, what do you get? For Colette and I the question is a no brainer, 9 out 10 times we find ourselves at In-N-Out. I can’t tell you why we love it so much other than that the food tastes amazing and it is super cheap. Need I say more? And let’s be honest, they must be doing something right. They have had the same simple menu (three different choices) since they opened (I think) and they are always busy. People who don’t live near one, go whenever they get a chance. It is that good. We simply agree.
Our other fast food choice? Chic-Fil-A. But for some reason I only think about it on Sunday, when they are closed.

OK I admit it, I am a fan of Harry Potter. I read all of the books, will someday purchase all of them in hardback and reread the entire series. This love of Potter extends to the movies as well. Which is why I took Colette out on a date to see the latest Harry Potter movie. Of all the amazing movies out there geared to people our age, we went to see a kids movie. And of course, I loved it as did Colette. I sat there in the theatre, fully engrossed in the world that Rowling created, whether it was by luck or skill.
One world I will not be joining is the world of Twilight. There was a preview for the second movie and it pretty much confirmed everything that I heard about the first movie. Bad acting, bad writing, and anything else you can think I movie should do well, it didn’t. There was one part of the preview that actually got me laughing it was so bad… Vampire boy says to the girl. ”You’re the only reason I stay alive. <pause>. If that’s even what I am.” Never mind the acting, that line is bad enough for me to stay clear.
Now, I am sure I just offended all of you.
I have been wanting to get Bella Ruth her own twitter for awhile now. A few days ago I finally did it. Sadly, @bellaruth was already taken, seems we need to come up with a less common awesome name. So I got her @Bella_Ruth. I am not a huge fan of the underscore but it is better than nothing. I mean Bella Ruth needs her own twitter account. And now all the parents who read this think I am crazy, but allow me to explain. This really is for my own entertainment. Bella Ruth doesn’t write any of the tweets and won’t for quite awhile (she is not allowed to play with my phone or the computer). Yes my life is this boring.
So, if anybody really wants to follow I suppose they can, though I do have her updates blocked and I am not going to allow just anybody to follow. I am not a terrible parent.
