Why do we sin? There are lots of answers for this question and most of them are correct. This is one answer from church today that makes perfect sense to me. We sin because we don’t think that it is that big of a deal. Sin that has immediate and physical consequences we can stay away from. But sin that we can convince ourselves that nothing happened, nobody got hurt, nobody saw, it didn’t stop anything important, those we can justify. But, take that same sin and place it in the middle of a mission trip, would you still do it? Would it stop something important from happening? ”When we sin nothing stops because we aren’t doing anything to stop.” Lance Hahn (probably a loose quote).
Another quote probably unrelated. (This one doesn’t deserve quotation marks, I know I don’t remember exactly). Christians are good at being radically in issues that don’t really matter (politics, the words we use, what movies we watch), but we aren’t that different when it comes to issues important to God (pride, anger, love). Why?

because pride, anger, and love are all emotions, and we don’t try to control our emotions. we are too dependent on our feelings. i find that God refines us like gold: we walk through fiery trials until those types of sin are skimmed off…
i don’t have a lot of time, but it is thought provoking.
