Five Easy Pieces dvdrip Why do Christians feel the need to make everything about Jesus or something to do with The Bible or the Christian faith. Aren’t there some things that don’t have a deeper meaning? Stories that aren’t meant to be allegorical? It drives me a little crazy. It makes Christians look… well ignorant. What brought on my little rant? An article comparing the hit TV show The Biggest Loser to the biblical princliple “the first shall be last and last shall be first.” The biggest loser is the biggest winner. The article even went so far as to say this tie to a biblical principle is partially the reason for the success of the show. Maybe I am wrong, but I don’t believe it.
Is it just me or to Christians take things too far? Is there a point where a story, a show, whatever it is does not have a deeper spiritual meaning?

on the one hand, we shouldn’t forget that we are spiritual creatures just as much as we are physical (if that makes sense…we’re body, soul AND spirit, one can not be detached from the other).
on the other hand, Christians are usually the worst at checking our rationale at the door. we definitely overreach logic and common sense when we try to tie the biggest loser to the spiritual principle of serving our Savior.
we shouldn’t live like ’spiritual things’ only happen from time to time, but we also need to have common sense and thoughtfulness when we’re out there walking, talking and representing Jesus.
so yeah, i’m with you. not everything needs to be sermonized.
Gene - You said it much more intelligent that I. Good job.
gotta agree on this one. i was married to an unbeliever for 11 years. one of the reasons he refused to associate with my church friends had to do with this very thing. early on in our marriage, i was friends with this christian couple. i got him to go out to dinner with them once, and they never stopped with the Jesus talk…hubby was really uncomfortable.
